YoYoRadioTom “Hollywood” Uleau – you may remember him as MC of contests like “the Mid-Atlantic Regionals,” “Maryland States,” and “Pennsylvania States” or, perhaps, as ne’er-do-well AJ Kirk’s ne’er-do-well roommate or as the newest member of the AYYA Board of Directors. In any case, Tom will be on house to co-host his first (and likely last as he’s moving to Florida) Yo-Yo’s Coast to Coast this Monday at 9:30 pm (East Coast Time) – tune in at YoYoRadio.net

Yes, shockingly enough, YYC2C is not dead yet. Despite a prolonged hiatus (we’re working out an independent agreement to the YYC2C writers), we’re back – just in time for the second East Coast Classic / Delaware State Yo-Yo Contest on Saturday – January 12th. Tune in Monday for what promises to be a fun show. And, entirely Tyler-free! (well, maybe not entirely, but largely Tyler-free anyway)

So, we didn’t do a live show last week. Instead, Steve Brown and I recorded a podcast and put it up, as kinda a Easter Egg for those who’ve subscribed to the podcast feed on Itunes. You didn’t? Shame on you, visit yoyoradio.net and click on the subscribe button.

While there, download last week’s podcast with Steve Brown, where he disses on Shoparooni, the current state of 5A and does an impression of JonRob on the phone with his wife. Also download this week’s show, where I talked to Aidan Orange about his appearance in Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium as a yo-yoer. Nathan Crissey co-hosts and I also spoke to Tyler Severance about his upcoming East Coast Classic Contest.

Yo-Yo Messiah I just wrote this post over on the YoYoGuy blog (remember that?). Check out this dude who claims he single-handedly created the 1998 yo-yo boom. “I created the yo-yo craze of 1998, taking Yomega Yo-Yos from $8mm to over $110,000,000 in a SINGLE YEAR.” Funny, I’ve never heard of him.

Yomega Blazer

READ THIS first… if you need any more convincing NOT to buy this yo-yo, read on…

Found some interesting pics on Spin Gear of the Yomega Blazer…
What a shitty idea for response…

The Bearing also looks odd. Guess Yomega didn’t want anyone to be able to put a KK or other bearing in here. Not that anyone IS going to buy these after all the ridiculous things they said about us “Knuckle Draggers”

Horrible look. No attention to visual elements. The dots look like they’d fall out after a few times with trying to tune the response. And plus its only $90! It’s nice that suck a large company that has already outsourcer there yo-yos to china couldn’t find a better deal on making aluminum yo-yos like there “competitors” Duncan and Yo-Yo Factory… guess it costs them twice as much to do the same thing, worse?

Fuck Yomega.

So, if you haven’t read the web boards lately… take a minute or 2 to read this post by Steve Brown.

Now, take another minute to read good ol’ Alan Amoral’s (president and CEO of Yomega) response to what happened at Worlds.

Also check out the comments on Schalicto’s yoyo2 Worlds post.

Now, heres what I think…

First, who the hell does Alan think he is talking down to his customers like that? Granted the yo-yo community makes up a small segment of their total sales, but they are obviously making yo-yos geared to us (Crossfire, Lancer, Blazer and Hotspot*). As we all know, of the yo-yos listed, the ones that have actually been released were garbage. Maybe Alan is taking his aggression out on us because were to picky about the shit he’s been putting out?

Second, get some damn tack to go with your fancy words you prick (look it up HERE). If you find so many problems with the current World Yo-Yo Contest, why didn’t you try to do more with your “World” contest? Always having in Las Vegas? Giving up on it after a few years? Greg might not have all the right ideas, but at least he’s got the balls to stick to his guns. You want to try and change the system Mr. Yomega? Help! Don’t hurt whats going on.

Third, Who do you think you are calling people that agree with Steve, “Steve Brown-nosers”? That was MY IDEA!

SO Alan, and Yomega associates, please feel free to leave any comments you’d like here on the blog. And if you have anything else official to say, I’d be happy to post it here for all these knuckle-dragging neanderthals to read. I know this might not be the classiest response to you guys, but I’m just stooping to your level;)

O and one more thing, Get BENT (look it up)

* I know it’s the Hotshot, but Hotspot is such a better name!

I’m not to keen on posting stuff on this blog that Save Deth is doing. But I feel this is blog worthy.

First, there’s a Website and a Blog. We are going to try and update it as much as we can with pictures progress and processes of the merch we’ll be selling.

DVD’s are back from press and waiting for you to buy them at Worlds
But there is something you don’t know about the DVD…
Whoa!
You’ll be watching part of it in 3D.
(with your complimentary 3D glasses)

Check out the rest of the pictures here.

Prices are $20-$30.

I’m very excited to see Born Crucial working with yo-yoers (Mark Montgomery and Sky Kiyabu) for their designing. It will be nice to see something grow and still keeps its roots in yo-yoing.

This is a project very near and dear to my heart. Dave and I have been working on films for this DVD for nearly 3 years, and we are very proud of the results.

When starting Volume 1 we wanted to create something that yo-yoing hadn’t seen. We wanted a set of artistically done films that also had very impacting tricks.

Their has also been a lot of time put into the music selection for each piece.

Check out the Save Deth Site for more information on the bands, the players and even some trailers. Retail price will be $18-20.

Stuff like THIS should happen more often. You can look at this via the yoyojam website www.yoyojam.com. I mean as performers, well a lot of us anyway, when we do shows and what not we try and get kids and even adults interested and help inspire some of our love for the yoyo in them. But for a manufacturer to get behind this little kid and try and help him and a lot of other kids out, well thats a great thing.

Bravo YoYoJam, Bravo.

I don’t know if this kind of thing has happened before, but it should happen more often.

Remember that tour that Jack, Red and Bride went on a LONG time ago? Remember how they put out videos a few months after the tour, and then the site just, disappeared?

Well if you’ve been wondering were it all went, check here.
