Project 2: Indepth Look

ptwo4.jpg
The Project 2. Well at least a prototype. Only 28 of these are made, and I do not know the changes, if any, will be made. But as it stands, it’s a very solid 2nd version.
ptwo5.jpg
The basic shape stays true to the basic aesthetics of the Project. grooved profile. Flat rims. But it doesnt take long to see whats been tweaked.

The 2 biggest things that stook out to me were the deeper prifile and the slightly rounded rims.

Inside the Project2 comes with One Drop’s new silicone groove instead of the pad recessed the Original Project had. The gives the design the ability to start the curve closer to the center, which gives a deeper profile.

The other big change was a little more roundness to the rims. This in no was takes away from that feel of the Original Projects, only enhances it for me.

Over all this is a very solid 2nd generation. The precise smooth Lathe operation combined with the classic One Drop nut milling operation makes a very solid feel.

Commnets

  1. when does the project2 come out

  2. you should check your spelling on the article, but the yoyo and the pics look awesome!

  3. You must be new to yoyo2 hawn. my spelling has always been horrible.

  4. It’s scheduled to come out in June. At least that’s what their shooting for. I am pretty certain they’ll make it.

So far I love the proto. I was very iffy at first. The extra weight really bothered me quite a bit at first. I have gotten used to it a bit more and it feels nice. I think it would be great with about 1 gram of or so. Since they changed how the weight is distributed, it makes the project 2 feel quite a bit more solid. The extra weight makes it feel even more solid. I just feel there might be a hair more than what’s comfortable. At least for me. I think if they took a 1/2 gram off of each side, aka: 1 gram. It’d be the ideal weight.

I slapped a project 1 half onto the project 2 proto just for kicks, the weight difference is noticed and it actually plays really well. I like the weight, i am not sure how much those two halves weigh together though.

All and all though, I’m pleased with the project 2.

now i’m glad that i never got an original. i might actually get this one.

i wish that one drop would put serial numbers on their wheels. to go along with the different color schemes that they have.

after the horrible looking m1 they need a comeback lYk this.
