Another look at the pre-production Bassalope. If all checks out with this prototype It’s onto the Lathe and this bad boy will be going into full production.
Small bearing (Duncan sized), pad response. Some really nice esthetics with this yo-yo. Great work for CLYW 3rd release!

Woooooowwwwww!
Those turned out really nice looking! I absolutely love how everything came together aesthetically:)
Yay Chris and Sebby!
SO NICE!
Woah! Really AWESOME!!!
Are they gona have response or just bare?what about colors?
Those look so clean. How much do they weigh?
I’m sure they will come with some kind of pads in them. weight is around 65 grams.
This great yo-yo will fail in Russian, because almost all Russian players does not like small bearings. May be some collectors will by it.
It’s a shame…
Pad response not welcome in Rusia too
though I like A bearing and Pad response.
I know you guys like big bearing and silicone…
But this is what I like to play with.
Regardless you guys need to play with it before you judge, because it’s not a normal yo-yo.
I’ve always liked larger berings (but not to big like a big yo)
i actually don’t like bearings at all. and i don’t use strings, prefer wireless connection.
oh c’mon, the bassalope’s gonna be awesome.
This yo-yo is supposed to be for Sebastian and a display of his tastes, plus it allows Caribou to play the field a little and provide options. Not everyone likes big bearings and silicone grooves; I know I don’t. I’ve been waiting for this yo-yo since i talked to Sebastian about him planning a signature yo-yo a year and a half ago.
Looks like the real deal.
Props to Chris and Sebby.
Looking forward to throwing this one.
I like that the axl hubs look similar to those on the Plug-in III, but longer. I also like that it looks like a wider Bear vs Man. Not too crazy about pad response, but I’m sure it will be one hell of a player.
Can’t wait!
Maybe its about time to invest in a first CLYW yoyo…
Hopefully kick back is fixed too?
Yeah chris commented on YYN about the kick back and said it was all taken of. its lighter as well which sounds nice:)
I was impressed when I threw it. Nice work Sebastian!
It’s was pretty legit when i threw it in Seattle. Still a little weird feeling, as far as the actual play was concerned. The small bearing/pad mixed with metal yoyo is a weird feeling. I don’t really know how to describe it. Still nice though.
i hope this is not going to be another super tiny quantities collectable blah blah….make it real, please.
pad response that seems weird for clyw
i read that these can take silicone at yyn
Thanks for your comments!! Maybe down the road we’ll try different bearing sizes and response systems…but for now small bearing and pad response is what Sebby wants and that’s what he’s getting. We’re doing this right and designing this yoyo for him. I’ve always been a fan of large bearing and silicone response, but doing this yoyo is giving us an opportunity to grow and try something new. I have been testing an anodized model for over a week and I’m loving it!! The spin times are a lot longer then the raw one I had in Seattle, because of the decreased friction. It’s really light and super fast on the string. Sebby should be getting his soon and then we’ll have a better idea of where we’re going to go with it … either to production or prototype #3. I’m super happy with it!! We just need to find the right pad response.
The kickback is all gone!! Awesome!!
No more tiny releases … don’t worry about that.
Where can you buy the pads that the bassalope came with, and it is beadblasted right?
