More Auldey’s bootlegs
Oct 26th, 2007 by $eth
This round of bootlegs hits a little closer to home. Now, instead of ripping off bigger manufacturers like Duncan, Yo-Yo Jam and Yo-Yo Factory, Auldey’s is taking yo-yos from our grass roots metal yo-yo manufacturers like SPYY and Dif-E-Yo!

Pretty detailed packaging.

First the SPYY knock off. Complete with death spikes.

Silicone O rings and concaved bearing.

L2 rip off. If your unfamiliar with the L2 here was the yoyo2 post The red one was the AP pre release L2. Guess Auldey’s pick one up at the event and decided it would be good to try and run a small run metal manufacturer in there area out of business?

The details these guy get down to is crazy! the little groove around the inside of the rim’s are even identical.

Now for the Dif e Yo. They even throw in a blue weight ring and brand the yo-yo exactly were Dif E Yo does.

Another look at the packaging.
Check out my Flickr for more pictures of each and bigger versions. Thanks to Dimi for hooking up these pictures.

i want me some bootlegs
I want these so bad.
I see very familiar photos…
The Radian And L2 Bootlegs are from another company called AODA. They are the direct competitors to Auldey and they are also the makers of the 888,Col Fusion,Hurricane and Many more metal Bootlegs.

I thought I read somewhere that AODA was the specialized yo-yo section of Auldey.
Craziness!
I must say I am offended that they are yanking everyone’s designs.
Do these things play OK? Are the materials and workmanship up to snuff? They look fine from the outside but, like the MFHZ1, are they subpar under the covers? Just wondering. I understand why folks do this though, and it’s a good lesson in economics. There’s such a markup on imports that making stuff at home, even if it’s a knockoff, is preferable to paying what amounts to duties, fees, and exchange rate fluctuations.
I have to honest with you guys, the playability of the yo-yos are pretty awesome. But this is really based on luck for the Bootleg L2, since there are reports that a number of them wobbles.
As for the SPYY, it is currently my best bootleg that I have ever played with. I have never played with the original one but I think this bootleg really rocks ass.
The Bare Bones was never a yo-yo I enjoyed that much but this too plays awesome for a yo-yo costing USD30.

Another thing, for a player with access for this yo-yos and being cheap, why would they buy something that will take a week or more, triple the price.
I don’t enjoy seeing my sponsor’s yo-yo being copied but it does have it’s benefits for players from this region. Kids here stop playing because the yo-yos are expensive and they have to order it online and all the other hassles combined.
uhm i was also a yoyo player here in the philippines i had bought one for myself eventhough i dont have enough money to buy the proffesional version of it ,but at least im happy i had some tym enjoying playing it
Those look really really cool
